This Check Reveal C FX profile Thermo-loc Platinum Plus Multi Cavity Closer is a durable and resistant barrier to eliminate cold bridging and dampness from around walls, windows and sills. It provides an effective Damp Proof Course and thermal barrier between frame, inner and outer wall leaf, suitable for cavities between 50mm-100mm.
A ‘check reveal’ is a detail that is particularly common in Scotland and Central Europe. It involves an opening being formed in the external masonry skin where the external structural opening is smaller than the window frame. Consequently, when installed, the outer face of the window frame butts up against the back of the external skin. In this scenario, the primary weather seal is formed between the front face of the window and the opening, rather than the outer perimeter of the window and a conventional ‘flush’ reveal.
Features & Benefits: Timloc 2.4m Thermo-loc Platinum Plus Multi Check Reveal Cavity Closer – 50mm to 100mm
- Quick and easy on site-trimming to cope with “rogue” cavity widths
- Exceeds the minimum thermal resistance path of 0.45m2k /w stipulated in accredited construction detail
- Rigid profile extrusion
- Durable and resistant to decay
- Can be used in second fix applications
- Profile can be easily cut using the pre-cut grooves and installed on site
- Global Warming Potential of less than 5
Timloc’s range of cavity closers and acoustic fire rated cavity stops offers a variety of insulation and performances to meet the varying requirements of today’s projects. The multi-width profiles have been specifically designed to enable merchants and stockists to hold two sizes only, which can be quickly and easily trimmed on-site to suit various cavity width requirements.
Cavity closers are rigid and lightweight UPVC profiles fitted with insulation material. They are used to close openings in cavity walls, such as external walls and windows and can also be used to pre-form openings when the door and/or window frames are to be installed later.
Installation
- The accredited construction detail published by DCLG requires a minimum overlap of 30mm between the window frame and cavity closer. To begin, cut the Cavity Closer to the required length, allowing the jamb section to overlap the sill section by cutting away parts of the fixing flange and to butt the underside of the lintel. For second fix applications, push the Cavity Closer into the open side of the cavity after building work is complete. The compressible nature of the exposed insulation is used to create a friction fit into the cavity. Alternatively, you can trim the insulation to your desired fit using a sharp knife. Fixing nails or applying grab adhesive to the flanges are recommended to ensure a secure fit.
Standards & Certification
- Satisfies NHBC Standards Manufactured to BS EN ISO 9001 and BS EN ISO 14001
- Complies with building regulations approved documents C, L1 & L2 Satisfies BRE document
Please note:
- Joining ‘off cut’ sections should be kept to a minimum and not carried out to sill sections.
- Insulation should be extended from the lower closer profile to allow this to slot into the upper profile to maintain a rigid section.
- All overlaps should be sealed with tape.
- Can be used in second fix applications.
